Prior to founding LCG, Rand was Vice President of Licensing at Saban Entertainment, where he managed a one hundred million dollar licensing division. He was responsible for developing the licensing initiatives for the multi-billion dollar Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show (a worldwide licensing phenomenon that grossed over $3 billion in worldwide retail merchandise sales), and two Power Rangers Movies (produced with 20th Century Fox Film Corp.). He also managed the international licensing programs in Mexico and Canada, and built the business to several million dollars in product and promotional licenses.
Rand was also a licensing executive at Warner Bros. Consumer Products. where he licensed out a number of high profile theatrical, television and publishing properties including Batman (which generated over $500 million in box office revenues) and Batman II movies, the animation classic Looney Tunes (i.e. Bugs Bunny). His business development initiatives including launching and building the WB animation art business, as well as expanding the Batman licensing program into new product categories.
He is also a published writer and public speaker. His articles have appeared in The Licensing Journal, Intellectual Property Magazine and License India. Rand was a featured speaker at numerous business and investment conferences, including the UC Irvine, FastStart Studio, Hong Kong Film Art Expo, San Diego Investment Conference, and the National Speakers Association (Nashville). He is also a regular speaker on IP and licensing at the ICFO Capital Conferences in Orange County, CA and Los Angeles.
Rand received his undergraduate degree in Advertising from California State University – San Jose and his Masters of Business Administration from Pepperdine University. He remains active in the Pepperdine Alumni organization as past President of the NYC Chapter
